Doodia aspera is an Australian native fern that can be found throughout most of the east coast. Its spreading habit makes it a suitable ground cover and it is well adapted to both full sun and shaded positions and prefers an acidic soil. New growth fronds are bright pink, fading to green as they age, this feature makes the fern an attractive ornamental for gardens. Though the plants likes a moist soil, it needs to be well drained to prevent sweating. Sweating occurs when the plant is exposed to high levels of water for long periods.
